Introduction

Hi, Im Sufi Punk and this blog is a space I've dedicated to exploring the Sufi Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan. The message of Love, Harmony and Beauty.  To me he was one of the real Sufi Punks reaching out to all faiths and traditions in the language of Universal Sufism.

This blog also acts as a curriculum towards developing an inner life, through reflection, study of saints and the 99 names of Allah. Its an ongoing work in progress as each post is a collaboration between mother and son (age 6) as we seek to develop ourselves in the spiritual and mystical practices over his lifetime.

My previous  career in music began as an activist, wanting to prove Muslim women could sing.  I went on to developing, lobbying and campaigning for these artists. I didn't realise at the time that I was seeking something more and although I had achieved a lot I didn't really achieve a spiritual connection.

After exploring, learning and examining my passion for music, I realised that to me music is the very essence of life.  That is why my soul cried out so loud when I was presented with “Muslim women aren't allowed to listen or perform to music” when I was younger.

Late 2015 I began the epic task of writing 99 blog posts. One for each of the 99 Names of Allah.  I do this whilst I take care of my son who was born very premature and is on the autistic spectrum.  The only level playing field is the spiritual one from which I know he can flourish and achieve his potential.  Isn't that what we want for all our children?

It will be exciting to see how this space grows and develops with us as we hope to capture what we can and determine some pathways for others who have a similar calling in life.
